WOMEN SEEKING SAFETY

Overview:
Channel A News is announcing a new series of community service newscast spots designed to increase ratings. The first promo newscast spot in this series deals with help for women who are victims of domestic violence.

The spot is shown during a live interview with a former battered wife who reclaimed her life and is graduating from college with honors. She is working at the local womens' recovery center helping other women who are victims of abuse.

WOMEN SEEKING SAFETY

Scene 1
A battered pregnant woman cowers in a corner. Her husband has beaten her and left the house. She holds her stomach and cries. The television set is on.

Battered Woman (Moans out loud):

I can't go on like this!

Scene 2 (TV woman comes off of the screen. Speaks to battered woman. Channel A logo and Womens' Shelter info is visible).

Woman on TV:

You don't have to...You can leave.

Scene 3

Battered Woman:

I can't. I have no money. How will I take care of the baby?

Scene 4

Woman on TV: (Extends hand to battered woman)

Sitting in a corner won't help. I know. I've been there. Take your first step to freedom. Stand up. Walk with me to the phone. Call the Women's shelter. 1-800---------
