Welcome to my world of fantasy Art where techno meets history and hanky panky.

I
am currently working on THE CIRCUS AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD, (El Circo en el Borde del Mundo), a series of pop surreal paintings featuring fantasy Luchadoras, (Luchas). Luchadoras are female wrestlers. Their male counterparts are the hooded Luche Libres. Luche Libres is a popular Mexican sport born in the early 1900s. Luchadoras or 'Lady Sport' was launched in the 1950s

W
e live in an edgy world. My art is about the edges. Let's kick butt!

The iconic Luchas in my paintings are classy and sassy. They embody the strength necessary to motor through a world of increasing challenge and danger.
I use pop surreal circus backgrounds as a setting for the luchas. To me, the circus is symbolic of life. Non stop action packed acts. Always a surprise. The lights come on. The acts start. The acts are over. The lights go out. The show is over. Or maybe not.

About the Artist
I started painting at the age of six. I was the only companion of a terminally ill sister who died when I was eleven. My sister was not allowed to have friends due to a compromised immune system. So, when I came home from school, we invented games. Our favorite game was reinventing the Miss America pageant on paper.
We drew fantasy Miss America contestants on paper cut into short and long strips. The 'winners' were enlarged and painted.

My sister was an amazing multitalented person. Visual Artist, Writer, and Musician. She was my mentor. The way she met her challenge inspired me to live life creatively and productively. Not to take it for granted.

There are different ways to survive tragedy. I turned to Art. The circus and sideshows became my subjects. Along the way, I met and photographed Priscilla the Monkey Lady, her husband, the elephant man, and Whitey, the flame thrower.

I love creating Art! I also love to dance and play music. Life is good!

Career Background
I used my training as a traditional artist to step out into the Future. After 12 years as a Painter on the East Coast, I moved to the West Coast to study Computer Art, Animation, Holography, Neon, and the Internet. I became a 'techno-nerd' and Urban Artist.

Along the way, I developed and taught TRUE DOODLES, a community art program, for five years in northern California. TRUE DOODLES helped people to release their creativity. Including the handicapped and stroke impaired. I also trained Teachers to teach TRUE DOODLES in public schools which had no art programs. The upshot was awesome. Student artwork filled the blank walls. It sparked a sense of pride, learning, and accomplishment in the students. The Art they made was not only decorative. It was used as a 'tool' for learning other subjects such as history, math, and science.

Social issues have always been the stimulus from which I create.

THE MILLION DOLLAR FLEA MARKET, a 'happening' which I created and produced grew from poverty. It engages the audience participants in rebuilding and recycling. The TELEJECTRON, a 15' truncated pyramid programmed with light, sound, and holography grew from my research in consciousness and Science.

FORTUNE KOOKIES, an adult cartoon book which I illustrated and wrote uses humor to bring people to attention about serious social issues. FORTUNE KOOKIES is sold on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and in other stores.
